About Us

Sonshine Kids Child Development Center is located between Buda and Kyle, Texas.   We opened in April of 2011 and serve children ages 18 months to 5 years.  Our goal is to be a home away from home and provide a safe place for children to grow and learn.  At Sonshine Kids, we hope to inspire self-esteem and learning.  We achieve a balance of creative discovery through play and academics by providing learning centers that change weekly, hands-on materials, art, free play, music, dance, and vocabulary enhancing games and lessons.

We are a small school with up to 21 children and four teachers.  Our center is located on five acres of land, which provides many opportunities for nature walks, exploration, and visits to the goats and ponies who live next door.  We are open year-round and close four weeks during the year for training, cleaning, and vacation.  Sonshine Kids is closed during the weeks of Hays CISD's Spring Break, the fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Sonshine Kids CDC is licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and we exceed their standards in many areas:

• hands-on experiences

Teachers
Mrs. Cathy is the owner and director of Sonshine Kids CDC, and will also serve as the preschool teacher.  She has over 30 years of experience in child care and at NAEYC accredited schools.  She is the mother of two and proud grandmother of one.  Mrs. Cathy has her Child Development Associate Credential and has been published multiple times in Mailbox Magazine.

Mrs. Joy is the Assistant Director and Preschool Lead Teacher at Sonshine Kids CDC.  Joy has 14 years of experience in child care and NAEYC and NAC accredited schools.  She has also earned her Child Development Associate credential.  She has a one year old daughter and enjoys photography in her spare time.
