Spring Break 2012

Spring Break was a very busy and productive week for the Sonshine Kids family. We were closed so the staff and children could have some time to relax and spend time with family and we also had plans to make improvements around our little school.

Our sandbox is almost done! It has sone bamboo fencing to create a beachy atmosphere, some child sized beach chairs, and some baskets with labels so everything has a home. We also added some big brushes so the children can sweep the deck when sand spills over.

Across the playground we added a bang wall full if metal pots, pans, and buckets. The children can use sticks to explore the sounds all of these materials make or they can just take a rest like J!

Inside, we got to work in the preschool bathroom and fixed a small leak under the toilet. Then we found a leak under the sink... One thing led to another and the bathroom got new flooring, wainscoting, and a brand new child sized sink that has been declared "awesome" by the preschool class.

The Ladybug Class was our last classroom to still have carpet and we were able to install wood flooring in that room as well. We are excited about all of the changes and the opportunities they will provide!

Spring Has Sprung

I am so glad that spring is here... I am ready to do art on the playground, fly kites, take walks, and enjoy some sunshine.

The Bear Class has begun a unit on pond animals and we had a blast setting up a frog pond in our sensory table. We just needed some fake plants, pebbles, logs, and plenty of frogs!

The Block Center has had all kinds of creative activity. We added turtles, lizards, snakes, foam blocks, and large pebbles. E made a car for his turtles in this basket. In the back you can see the two cylinders that make the motor (not the lights, as I assumed).

Z made a turtle castle and took plenty of time setting up the building and turrets and lining up all of the turtles in the right turtle order.
